Curriculum pathway – Explorers

Characteristics of learners:

  • For pupils with complex learning needs and who are not yet developmentally ready for the discover pathway. 
  • Pupils may be non-speaking or at the single, two-word communication. 
  • The curriculum, adult interactions and explore provision focus heavily on developing functional communication skills. 
  • Pupils learn through play, exploration and intensive interactions with adults. 
  • All pupils have communication targets/ some have SALT plans 
  • All pupils have an EHCP
