Pastoral Interventions

How we identify need for intervention?

At Milton school we identify pupils for interventions through their EHCP, teacher observation, SENCO observation, parental input, core subject assessments and referrals from the safeguarding team.

Pupils are set targets and take part in a sequence of interventions over the course of a half term. The impact of these interventions are then reviewed and next steps are planned with a clear focus for moving forward.

Interventions for closing gaps in foundational knowledge include:

  • Phonics interventions
  • Reading interventions
  • Handwriting interventions
  • Communication and Language interventions (SALT)

Other interventions we offer:

  • Art Interventions
  • Music Therapy
  • Alpaca Trekking
  • Reading2Rabbits
  • Pastoral interventions e.g. personal hygiene, online safety, bullying
  • Cooking interventions
  • Occupational Therapy
  • ELSA
