KS1 Curriculum
Balancing the needs of the pupils and the statutory entitlement of the National Curriculum requirements underpins the curriculum for our KS1 pupils.
At Milton we embrace the philosophy that children are active learners and learn best when they are interested, motivated and inspired.
Within KS1 there will be age-appropriate continuous provision, ‘Learning through play’ remains important throughout these classrooms where children have planned opportunities to learn independently and develop their own interests.
Our environment is organised to reflect children’s interests and enhancements for what the pupils will be learning that week.
The national curriculum is heavily adapted for the needs of our pupils and from pupils baselines or transitions from EYFS, it is carefully planned for to meet the needs of our individual learners alongside their EHCP targets.
We use Read Write Inc for our phonics and a sensory pedagogy approach for Literacy in which sensory stories are fundamental for our learners.
“Great school – staff are brilliant.“
