We know our pupils.
The right curriculum for each pupil to achieve great things.
Breakfast Time
At Milton, breakfast is a calm, structured part of the school day that supports the individual needs of our pupils. Each morning, pupils and staff share breakfast together in their classrooms, helping pupils to feel safe, settled, and ready to engage in learning.
Pupils are offered a choice of simple, familiar breakfast items such as bagels and cereals. This routine supports sensory needs, encourages independence, and helps pupils develop confidence with everyday life skills, including making choices and using appropriate table manners. Staff provide gentle guidance and modelling, adapting support to meet each pupil’s communication, sensory, and developmental needs.
Breakfast time also plays an important role in developing social interaction and communication skills. Pupils are supported to engage in meaningful, relaxed conversations at a level appropriate to them, whether through spoken language, visual supports, or alternative communication methods. This shared experience helps pupils build positive relationships, practise turn-taking, and develop emotional regulation in a low-pressure environment.
By beginning the day with a consistent and nurturing routine, breakfast at Milton supports pupils’ wellbeing, independence, and readiness to learn.
